This page explains how to request deletion of your Dreamphase account and associated data. Account deletion is available directly in the app and does not require contacting support.

How to Delete Your Account In-App

To start the deletion flow:

  1. Open the Dreamphase app
  2. Go to SettingsAccount
  3. Tap Delete Account

The app then walks you through the following steps:

  1. Warning screen listing exactly what will be removed from our servers and from your device.
  2. Optional data export. Before anything is deleted, Dreamphase offers to export your full journal (dreams, keywords, locations, voice recordings, and drawings) as a .zip file that you can save or share anywhere. This is your last chance to back up your data.
  3. Local data options. You choose which on-device data to remove using checkboxes: the local database (dreams, keywords, locations, insights), media files (voice recordings, drawings, backups), and app settings / preferences. Each is independently selectable.
  4. Typed confirmation. You must type DELETE to confirm; this is an intentional safeguard against accidental deletion.
  5. Execution. The app schedules your account for server-side deletion and immediately removes whichever local data you selected.

30-Day Grace Period

Server-side account deletion is not immediate. When you confirm, the server schedules your account for permanent deletion 30 days later. During this window you can cancel the deletion at any time by signing back in and returning to Settings → Account, where you will see the scheduled deletion date and a Cancel Deletion option. After 30 days, deletion is executed and is permanent.

Note: local data you chose to remove during the flow is deleted immediately on your device and is not reversible by cancelling the server-side deletion.

Guest Mode Users

Dreamphase can be used entirely in Guest Mode without creating an account. If you use Guest Mode, there is no server-side account to delete; all of your data lives only on your device. The same in-app flow (Settings → Account → Clear Local Data) lets you remove the local database, media files, and settings. Uninstalling the app or clearing app storage from your device settings also removes everything.

What Data Is Deleted

Server-Side (Account Mode)

When the 30-day grace period ends, the following is permanently removed from our servers:

  • Authentication record: Your Supabase auth user and the email address or phone number used for one-time password sign-in
  • AI usage metrics: Daily token counters used for rate limiting
  • Premium / whitelist status: Any records tied to your account
  • Scheduled deletion record: The deletion request itself

We never store the content of your dream journal entries, voice recordings, or drawings on our servers, so there is no server-side journal content to delete.

On-Device (If Selected In The Flow)

During the deletion flow you choose whether to also wipe local data. Selected categories are removed immediately:

  • Local database: Dreams, keywords, dream signs, locations, AI insights, AI usage records, sync logs, unlocked achievements, and app logs
  • Media files: The voice/, drawings/, and backups/ folders in the app’s documents directory
  • App settings: All preferences marked for account-deletion clearing (theme, feature flags, auth state, notification settings, etc.)

If you want to remove everything on your device without using the in-app flow, you can uninstall Dreamphase or clear its storage from your device settings (Android: Settings → Apps → Dreamphase → Storage → Clear Data; iOS: delete the app).

Data We Do Not Control

  • Subscription records: In-app purchases are managed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store and follow their retention policies. To cancel a subscription, use your App Store or Play Store account settings.
  • AI provider logs: Dream-analysis and voice-transcription requests are processed by Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI (Whisper) under their own privacy policies. Dreamphase does not store the content of those requests, and our request passthrough is not retained.

Data Retention

  • Grace period: 30 days, during which the account can be fully restored by cancelling the deletion in-app.
  • Permanent deletion: After the grace period, authentication and account-linked server data are deleted.
  • Backups: Rotating server backups age out within 30 additional days.

In total, server-side data associated with your account is fully removed within 60 days of the original deletion request.
